The programme allowed me to identify that we needed to focus on governance and improve management. It’s been a big learning curve in dealing with issues and people, and the company is now more structured. I believe that taking the company to where I want it to be, means encouraging staff to share my vision, and to filter this throughout the company. I have since sent three of my senior staff on an Icehouse programme to align our vision for the business.

I couldn’t see beyond where I was, but getting out of the business in a structured way has helped me look at where to go next. I’ve found it’s not about making wild and rash decisions but moving in a strategic way. I am stretching my thinking, a task I had struggled with previously. I am now thinking before I react and have a new take on what it means to be a leader and manager. The programme has completely motivated me and changed my outlook. There is a new understanding and bond between me and the owner in sharing the visions and value for the company.
