The awards were presented to Armstrong Downes Commercial at the Auckland Museum at last week’s event for construction of Silverstream New World, Churton Park Retail Village and the Kapiti Coast District Council offices.

Tony Doile Principal and Managing Director of Armstrong Downes Commercial says the team are delighted and proud that all three projects have been recognised with Silver Awards and Quality Marks. He says, “ They are all examples of the high quality and standard that our local teams of builders, consultants, architects, trade services and suppliers can achieve for our community. Plus it’s always great to showcase the quality of construction projects across our region on the national stage.”

Hutt Valley’s Silverstream New World was completed in December last year and has transformed what was a very dated and small building into a beautiful, modern supermarket that is a pleasure to shop in. Construction was undertaken in six distinct stages to enable business continuity for the supermarket and surrounding community, retail shops, schools, kindergarten and businesses. The exterior and interior finishing are testament to the utmost attention to detail and the high quality of the building.

The awards are the commercial equivalent of the House of the Year Contest. Silver Awards recognise excellence in construction and are earnt by achieving more than 82.5% of the points available. The projects are judged on extensive criteria covering all design, contract management, construction, and delivery. Thirty eight impressive projects were showcased at the event including extensive retail complexes, a $50m hospital development, an airport terminal, a sports stadium and a stunningly designed road draw bridge.

Warwick Quinn, Registered Master Builders Association Chief Executive said “We are very pleased to have, once again, attracted entries from all over the country of all different types and contract values. It is important to Registered Master Builders as the owner of the competition, to promote and showcase the diversity of all aspects of the industry we belong to. The level of innovation, skill and craftsmanship to create these properties is to be applauded.”
