ICEHOUSE alumni wins Ahuwhenua Trophy

Te Awahohonu Forest Trust – Tarawera Station has won the 2013 Ahuwhenua Trophy, the BNZ Māori Excellence in Farming Award.  Te Awahohonu Trustee, Bob Cottrell, attended The ICEHOUSE Māori Business Growth workshop last year. Dr Darl Kolb appointed as Professor of Connectivity

Dr Darl G. Kolb is the first of the University of Auckland Business School’s Foundation Professors in the new Taught Masters Program.  He will join Professor Robert MacCulloch ( Macro Economics) and Associate Professor Daniel Vidal (Strategy)  as part of the growing permanent  GSM faculty team. Darl’s strong record of research, teaching and leadership within the School makes him an excellent choice for this role.  With a PhD in Organisational Behaviour from Cornell University, Darl joined the School in 1992 to teach in MBA programmes.  He has received two MBA Teacher of the Year awards, as well as a University of Auckland Teaching Excellence Award in 1994 for his Stage One teaching. Darl’s Master’s degree in experiential education (University of Colorado) has served him well…

ICEHOUSE OMP Alumni Starting an Ownership Revolution

A group of OMP18 alumni who created their own private equity group – Kinfolk Capital – are pleased to report that they have completed their first investment, purchasing a 33.3% stake in CMS Alphatech Limited, a New Zealand business that is a sector leader in the Australasian healthcare market. Kinfolk invests in the evolution of great New Zealand companies, by partnering with other owner-managers who are ready to redefine their relationship with the successful companies they have created.  The group raises capital deal-by-deal, which they say gives them the ability to make longer-term commitments than is possible for limited-life PE Funds. “If we knew what we were getting ourselves into, we might never have started,” says Phil Dixon, who is Owner-Manager of Sabato and part…
