BNZ launches game-changing banking aimed at youth
In a New Zealand first, BNZ is set to revolutionise the way young people interact with their money. YouMoney has been designed in partnership with young customers and sets a new standard in personalised banking.
Unlike the current format of online banking that dominates the industry, it is completely customisable.
“Young people told us they want their personal banking to be easy and intuitive – so that’s what we’ve created,” says BNZ director retail, Andy Symons.
Most internet banking products are developed to complete a task and then people interact with the function. With YouMoney we led with the experience and then explored what the product that supported that experience would look like.”
“The result was an experience that is brilliantly simple and allows a customer to manage their money in a new and inviting ways that make sense to them.”
Customers can open and close accounts with the click of a button, set savings goals which can be tracked at a glance by progress bars and drag and drop funds between their own accounts or to payees.
YouMoneyalso features an advanced search function allowing customers to filter transactions by key words or amounts. Responding to customer feedback that showed that aspirations will drive behaviour, YouMoney allows customers to add photo avatars to accounts and payees to make the view of exactly where your money is going more real.
The launch of YouMoney ties in with BNZ’s increased focus on being relevant to the younger generation, specifically in the 18-29 age group.
“We’ve identified significant opportunity in the youth segment so, we’re amplifying our relevance to this area of the market through innovation and forward thinking,” says Symons.
And, while YouMoney is tuned to a slightly younger audience than many other products, feedback from the pilot programme suggests the product will be a big hit to all customers, regardless of their age.
“Your banking style no longer just has to suit whatever is available to you. YouMoney can be personalised to reflect your future plans, your spending patterns, or even just your favourite colours,” says Mr Symons.
“We have great aspirations for this product and we’re already working on the next stage of development to continue to help New Zealanders be good with money.”
BNZ’s team of brilliant developers are already working with customers on exciting new features for the next stages of functionality.
