Andrew Hamilton - ICEHOUSE CEO

Andrew Hamilton was the founding CEO of The ICEHOUSE in 2001.

Andrew Hamilton was lucky enough to join the team as employee number 1 way back in 2001. He is a director of ICEHOUSE incubator alumni eBus which is focused on Asian Media markets with operations in NZ, Singapore and India (www.ebus.tv); BigLittleBang (www.biglittlebang.com) which is currently in private beta creating a virtual world for 6-9 year olds to socialise and learn about music together and a councillor on the Japan-New Zealand Business Council.

Andrew has been Chair of Incubators New Zealand and Angel Association New Zealand (still a councillor), is a Board member of ICE Angels and also a Board member of ANZATEC – the Australian New Zealand Technology Forum based in Silicon Valley, a group who is tasked with creating a better gateway for NZ and Australian technology companies to enter the US.

Prior to joining the ICEHOUSE, Andrew was a lawyer, a pa, a sales and marketer and a corporate VC.

Samantha Copland

Samantha Copland - Business & Project Manager

Samantha works as Business and Project Manager at The ICEHOUSE. She heads up the Operations Team supporting the Growth, Start-up and Consulting Business Units. No day is the same running HR, Legal & Compliance, Strategic projects and Financial Performance & Accountability for the Ops team. Throw in a few meetings supporting the CEO and Management team and so it is! Sam worked in the Financial Services and Event Management industries in NZ and the UK before returning to NZ in 2009.  She loves to organise to execute connect with people who are passionate about turning entrepreneurial companies into international successes. She studied in both Otago and at the University of Auckland completing a BSc majoring in Psychology and Pharmacology.

Nick Egerton - Incubator Manager

Nick Egerton joined The ICEHOUSE as Incubator Manager in July 2010. Nick is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the ICE Accelerator and ensuring that the residents’ journey through incubation is a positive and rewarding experience.  Nick has extensive commercial qualifications  and has studied management both in New Zealand and the USA. Nick has held company directorships and committee memberships in multiple technology based companies  and not-for- profit organisations. Prior to The ICEHOUSE, Nick worked in general management and leadership positions  both in New Zealand and overseas, with particular focus on customer service, business start-ups, change management, business efficiency and performance optimisation.

Ken Erskine - ICE Accelerator & ICE Angels Director

Ken ErskineKen Erskine, has extensive sales and marketing experience working with a spectrum of organisations ranging from local start up’s to global multinationals. With over fifteen years IT sales and marketing experience in NZ and Europe Ken has held senior management/leadership roles at Hewlett Packard and Compaq where he was also involved in the initial sponsorship of The ICEHOUSE.

More recently Ken has been working with local technology companies including IPFX (NZ based Unified Communications software developer) where he was responsible for worldwide marketing, channels and vendor partnerships for the past three years. He is also an active member of the Ice Angels network investing in Nexus 6, Biomatters and Optima Corporation.

Charlotte Fenwick - Admin Assistant

Charlotte joined The ICEHOUSE in September 2011, having completed a certificate in advanced culinary arts from Auckland University of Technology. She spent two years working for Eyeworks Television, the Living Channel and Food TV.  Working a variety of roles in a fast pace environment, has groomed her to deal with whatever comes her way.  With her media experience, she proved to be a key asset to Rockstock the Stone Paper company, a small start-up company where she worked for 6 months on a short term contract to get them noticed in their field.  She worked as marketing and PR manager, event coordinator and head of administration.

In her role as Admin Assistant she provides support to the ICE Bridge and the ICE Accelerator teams.

Raewyn Goodwin – ICE Bridge & ICE Network Relationship Manager

Raewyn GoodwinRaewyn Goodwin is ICE Bridge Relationship Manager for The ICEHOUSE and manages all aspects of the administrative process involved in the service delivery of these programmes. Raewyn maintains the relationships with participants prior to and during the programme as well as post programme with the organisation of alumni events. She also acts as Location Manager for all courses in NZ and Australia.

She comes from a training & development background having worked for Franklin Covey (Seven Habits of Highly Effective People & First Things First) as well as a number of years with NZIM (The NZ Institute of Management). She holds a PGDipBus in Marketing.

Roger Hatrick-Smith - ICEHOUSE CFO

Roger Hatrick-SmithRoger has a deep understanding of the issues and challenges facing businesses wanting to grow both in New Zealand and offshore. He has advised many businesses through various stages of growth offering insights and knowledge acquired through many years of working closely with entrepreneurs and their businesses.

Roger's career has included senior line accounting positions in distribution, hotels and process manufacturing industries followed by a number of years in consulting roles. Roger assisted small to very large organisation undertake strategic reassessments of their business objectives in light of changing market circumstance - often supported with the implementation of organisational and information systems change projects in support of those objectives. His consulting experience spanned all major business process activity areas including operations and supply chain, management and support processes.

More recently Roger has provided strategic, business and financial advice to high growth New Zealand businesses as leader of Ernst & Young's Entrepreneurial and Growth Markets Group and its Transaction Advisory service line in New Zealand.

Roger continues to offer ideas, insights and practical advice to high potential New Zealand businesses.



Robert Holmes Robert Holmes- Sales Executive

Rob joined The ICEHOUSE in June 2010. Rob was previously employed as an Operations Manager in the Royal Engineers, HM Forces and served in the UK, Germany and Northern Ireland. He has extensive experience training, leading and managing teams of people in a diverse variety of arduous environments and high pressure situations. He was also traded as an Electrical and Mechanical Draftsman and trained as a Physical Training Instructor and Army Diver.

Prior to joining The ICEHOUSE Rob was employed as a Territory Sales Manager with Crown Equipment. Rob has a personable nature and is driven and passionate about delivering the best possible service for his clients and achieving their goals.

Yun Jae Lee - Project Manager

Yun Jae joined The ICEHOUSE as project manager early December 2010. Yun Jae works closely with ICE Accelerator resident start-up businesses, Executives in Residence, and Partners.  Yun Jae graduated in 2010 from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Food Science. With a passion for business and science, Yun Jae has been a member of Chiasma committee for more than 2 years. In 2010, she entered Spark 100K challenge and became one of the qualifiers. Her experience in the AISEC internship programme in Poland in late 2009, as a part of her O.E. was pivotal in fuelling her interest in global business.

Amy Lyons - Events and Database Manager

Amy joined The ICEHOUSE as the Events and Database Manager in July 2010. Amy completed  a Bachelor of Communications majoring in journalism from Auckland University of Technology in 2004. Amy worked in event management in London and then was transferred to Sydney with the same company to set up the events and training arm for Australasia. In Auckland, she was event co-ordinator at The Wharf, organising events from conferences to weddings.

Mark MacLeod-Smith - Project Manager

Mark joined The ICEHOUSE as project manager early September 2010. Mark studied at the University of Auckland, completing a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering and Commerce,  majoring in Finance and Management. During his studies he embarked on an exchange to the University of Washington where he took classes on entrepreneurship, innovation and new venture creation. Upon returning to New Zealand he worked temporarily as a site engineer for Fletcher Construction before taking up the Project Manager role at The ICEHOUSE. As a Project Manager he works closely with start-up businesses, partners and Executives in Residence to ensure that the Icehouse’s network, resources and support are fully leveraged.

Robbie Paul - Start-Up Funding Manager

Robbie PaulRobbie joined The ICEHOUSE in late 2008 after relocating to New Zealand from the east coast of the US.  As Funding Manager, Robbie manages the ICE Angels investment network, the University of Auckland Business School’s Entrepreneurs’ Challenge, and the International Entrepreneur in Residence Programme.  

Robbie is the first point of contact for start-ups seeking angel investment and for investors seeking angel investment opportunities.

Robbie graduated from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in 2008 with a degree in Business Development and Entrepreneurship.  At UNC-W, Robbie held internships with a local angel investment network and a boutique private equity firm and was the winner of the UNC-W Business Plan Competition.

Kellie Randrup - Marketing Manager

Kellie has come on board as the ICEHOUSE Marketing and Communications Manager.  She is responsible for overseeing the strategy and execution of all marketing and communications and works closely with the other members of the marketing team Amy and Emily. 

Prior to joining ICEHOUSE, Kellie worked for German software giant SAP as their Marketing & Communications Manager in New Zealand and gained extensive experience in business to business marketing, channel marketing and all other facets of the marketing mix.  Co-incidentally Kellie also worked with SAP while working in the UK for The Works London, where she was responsible for activating SAP’s global sponsorships and managing their key hospitality events in the USA, Europe and South Africa.  Prior to that Kellie worked in New Zealand and the UK as an advertising, events and marketing professional.

Danny Robertson - Project Manager

Danny Robertson joined The ICEHOUSE late 2010 as a Project Manager. Danny completed a BA in Political Studies and Philosophy in 2009 at the University of Auckland and partly through the University of California, Los Angeles. In late 2010 he also gained first class honours in Political Studies at the University of Auckland. Danny was a member of SPARK, the University of Auckland entrepreneurship organisation in 2010 and among many interests is ardent about entrepreneurship and global affairs.

As a Project Manager Danny works closely with ICE Accelerator resident start-up businesses, Executives in Residence, and Partners, with the aim of ensuring start-ups fully leverage their time at the ICEHOUSE and achieve success in all areas.

Mariko Rogers - Technology and Operations Manager

Mariko KingMariko joined The ICEHOUSE in June 2007. Having completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Tourism Management, she has worked for various travel companies in the UK specialising in the administration and operations side of the industry; ensuring the smooth running of office processes and clients holiday experiences.

In her role as Sales & Administration Coordinator she provides support to both the ICE Bridge and ICE Accelerator teams.

Mike Stokes - Sales Manager

Mike StokesMike joined The ICEHOUSE in August 2007 and as the Sales Executive.

After gaining a degree from Lincoln University in Resource Studies, Mike worked in London for Bank of America and Deutsche Bank in Emerging Markets and European Equities. He returned from overseas in 2000 and was the Owner-Manager of Artmount NZ Ltd for the next 7 years. Artmount is New Zealand’s leading Mounting and Laminating Company with work being displayed throughout New Zealand and around the world. Throughout this period Mike was Managing Director and obtained first-hand knowledge of the daily hurdles a Small-to-Medium business owner faces.

Emily Taylor - Marketing ExecutiveEmily Taylor

Emily joined The ICEHOUSE as marketing executive in mid December 2009. Before being employed, Emily completed a co-operative education with The ICEHOUSE for three months as part of her completion of a Bachelor of Business Degree at Auckland University of Technology. She majored in marketing and management.

Emily is responsible for marketing support and website administration for the ICE Accelerator, ICE Bridge and ICE Angels teams and works closely with the Marketing Manager on innovation projects and building The ICEHOUSE brand.

Maria Taylor – Business Development Manager

Maria TaylorMaria joined The ICEHOUSE in January, 2006. As The ICEHOUSE Business Development Manager, Maria is responsible for the strategic management of key relationships which include The ICEHOUSE partners and regional networks throughout the country, she also works with sponsors and other key stakeholders developing regional strategies for The ICEHOUSE business growth programmes and regional alumni activity.  A key passion for Maria is driving new business opportunities to The ICEHOUSE and adding high value to all strategic relationships.  She is also responsible for areas such as growth opportunities and innovation within regions.

Prior to joining The ICEHOUSE Maria worked for BNZ for 5 years working for both Business Financial Services and Agribusiness Financial Service before moving into a role with primary responsibility for the Agribusiness Farm First Growth Programmes which included programme structure and design as well as recruitment of external faculty to run the workshops.   These programmes were designed specifically for farmers and focused on areas such as Strategic Planning, Succession Planning, Wealth Management and People & Leadership.

As BNZ is a key partner of The ICEHOUSE, Maria has been involved with The ICEHOUSE since its inception. Moving to The ICEHOUSE as Channel Manager and then Business Development Manager was a natural succession for her. Previously, Maria has held a range of roles in organisations including Barclays International Funds Group, Deloitte and Thomas Cook.

Tracey Thomson - ICE Angels AdministratorTracey Thomson

Tracey Thomson joined The ICEHOUSE and the ICE Angels in June 2010 to support the Start-Ups Director with a focus on ICE Angels.  Tracey is responsible for managing and improving ICE Angels processes and tasks to enable more efficient operation along with improved business performance.  Overseeing the completion and filing of investment documentation for ICE Angels  investments.  Tracey leads the creation and development of ICE Angels membership communications including the ICE Angels monthly newsletter and ensures ICE Angels Investment evenings and follow-up meetings run effectively.

Tracey completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing from The University of Auckland.  Immediately prior to joining The ICEHOUSE, Tracey worked for a magazine publisher as business development manager.  Currently studying part time towards a Graduate Diploma in Commerce majoring in Commercial Law at The University of Auckland.  Tracey has a background of leadership roles on various student clubs and associations and is currently Secretary of the Auckland University Hockey Club.

Liz Wotherspoon - ICE Bridge & ICE Network Director

Liz WotherspoonAs ICE Bridge and ICE Network Director for The ICEHOUSE Liz is responsible for leading the Growth business which includes the business growth programs, networks and services that are focused on adding capability to grow established SMEs. She is also responsible for the alumni and international activities of The ICEHOUSE.

Liz is a Director of Grafton Consulting Group and has extensive experience in the provision of consulting services to clients including facilitation, organisation design and structure, training, role and competency profiling, performance management, capability needs analysis, management coaching, and change management.

Liz has spent most of her career contributing to the success of organisations through working with them to develop their most important asset - people. She was Manager, Human Resources Consulting for TMP Worldwide (formerly Morgan & Banks Group) in Auckland. Prior to joining TMP Worldwide, Liz was Director, Training and Development for the New Zealand Institute of Management. In this role she had overall responsibility for NZIM Auckland's executive development, public programmes, customised training and consultancy services and the effective planning and management of international speaker seminars. She also served as Acting General Manager for NZIM for a 4 month period.

Liz joined NZIM shortly after arriving in New Zealand. Originally from New York City, she spent her career prior to moving to New Zealand working for Columbia University Graduate School of Business in New York City. Liz holds a B.A. in Psychology and Business from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA.

Shay Wright - Communications

Shay joined The ICEHOUSE in Communications and Marketing in August 2010.  Shay's primary role is interviewing graduates of The ICEHOUSE programmes and writing their business success stories - which have included Tim Alpe (Jucy) and Ashley Berrysmith (NZ FreshCuts), past winners of the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Shay is completing his studies at The University of Auckland, majoring in Managerial Accounting in a BCom/LLB degree.  He is on the Board of Trustees of TeachFirstNZ and the Advisory Board of the NZ-US Council.  Shay's interests include business strategy and entrepreneurship, he has represented the University at several leadership conferences, and is passionate about youth issues and issues concerning Te Ao Māori, sharing his knowledge of Māori protocols and business practice with The ICEHOUSE team.
