2020 Vision for Business Growth in New Zealand - 8 July

Maximum ideas and interaction were the objectives of this jam-packed day. Hear ideas and initiatives, what's worked and what hasn't - We need to find the leaders who can implement the vision for an economically vibrant and globally relevant New Zealand in 2020.

The ICEHOUSE has made a commitment to delivering 1000 of the 3000 companies New Zealand needs to get back into the top half of the OECD by 2020.

It’s been 10 years since the Knowledge Wave. It’s less than 10 years before we need to achieve our goal. It’s time to stand up and take the lead. If you care about the economic future of New Zealand, if you have an idea for growing great kiwi businesses on the global stage – and you want to roll your sleeves up to help businesses grow.

ICE Ideas Conference - Overview

What a way to demonstrate ten years of The ICEHOUSE!  The ICE Ideas conference at the beginning of the month proved inspirational, exciting, thought-provoking and reassuring.  The day was about how to get Kiwis to ramp it up and really take our business ideas to the world, really looking for the ideas that will move the nation.

From discussions about the next big trends, to having product relevancy to organisational culture and the role of Government, the pace was fast and energetic; each speaker getting six minutes to share their incredible insights and map out the next 10 years of NZ business growth.

For those that did attend we hope you found the event inspiring, stimulating and thought provoking and that you left thinking about a BIG IDEA that could help New Zealand grow over the next 10 years.  Ideas by themselves are not enough.   We need to turn inspiration into action. To help continue the momentum, ICEHOUSE has listed 13 projects to help New Zealand business on 3000.org.nz.  Each project needs capital, talent, networks and insight and for these we welcome your involvement and feedback.

The University of Auckland Business School proved the perfect place to have the event, emphasising the important role of mixing theory with practise, and stimulating competent entrepreneurs in the next generation of business leaders.

Two things to remember:

  1. Check out 3000.org.nz to see how you can help scale-up NZ entrepreneurship over the next 10 years.
  2. Choose to do one of these three things mentioned by Derek Handley* (CEO, The Hyperfactory):
  • Enable the revolution – help a start-up move forward with your resources.
  • Join the revolution – become part of the fabric of our nation’s future and join a start-up.
  • Lead the revolution – create your own thread to weave into that fabric - become one of the 3000 new start-ups!
